AFCON is dedicated to providing its’ leading PCIM HMI/SCADA software designed by developers, for developers with the latest state-of-the-art communications capabilities. At ISA Show 2000 in New Orleans, we demonstrated some of these state-of-the-art communications capabilities using an operational WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) interface, allowing data to be monitored and modified via a standard mobile phone web browser and a wireless ethernet connection with our WindowsCE based package.
PCIM software is designed to operate on all Microsoft operating systems: Windows (32-bit) 95/98/NT/2000, and Windows CE (multiple CPUs), as well as DOS and Windows 3.1 (16-bit) which are still supported. On all of these platforms/operating systems, except DOS, the same development tools are used. This means that same screen you develop for a CE system will run with no modifications on any other windows platform, or the reverse.
I mentioned above that PCIM was developed by developers, for developers. I believe this is the reason PCIM is so easy to use. Many years ago AFCON used another leading HMI/SCADA package for its large systems integration business overseas. Each time the system could not do what they needed, they wrote custom code to provide that functionality. Eventually it got to the point that most of their HMI/SCADA package was custom code they wrote. At this point they decided to develop their own package for internal use. This internal package was developed to the point that they realized it was mature and refined enough to sell as a general HMI/SCADA package, and thus PCIM was officially born. This is the reason that PCIM software is so user friendly. They still use it for their system integration projects.
